Portland

What a day… better yet what a week. Here we are in Portland, in a knitting café. That’s right a knitting café. Sharna is going knit crazy on the couch making me a scarf. I lost mine in the airport in San Francisco. The first day here was a-okay, getting settled into the new nest. We went out dancing that night, it was Monday I think. Then on Wednesday the fun really started!!! Sharna got sick, and yes still is, sick, sitting on the couch knitting away. I have been giving her and endless supply of pepppermint tea and soup, I think it is starting to work. The weather is dark and gray but then again it is Portland. We are going to spend Christmas in Lincoln City, watching the waves crash against the coast. For now I am going to surf the net. What better way to kill time in a café!

San Francisco

San Francisco in December is surreal for an east coaster like me – bright sun and mild weather day after day! It hardly feels like winter except for the towering Christmas trees around the city. Earlier this week, before rehearsals began, we managed to take a long walk along the water to a dock where hundreds of sea lions come to sunbathe everyday. Leisure time for me came to an abrupt halt on day 2, as all 12 women headed to the studio to create Leading Ladies of Tango. Working with an artistic coordinator is a great learning experience for TangoMujer. We can focus much more on cleaning the choreography and developing our characters, rather than the problem solving dilemmas of which piece goes where. Isaac has been nominated for “assistant stage manager,” which means he gets to carry things from one place to another, and he has been wearing the title with pride all week. 🙂 For you chocolate lovers, Recchiuti Confections was a great discovery yesterday at lunch in SF’s Ferry Building Marketplace. If you need a convenient holiday gift, look no further….

Introduction

And so it starts… sitting in a coffee shop, sharna pounding away at the keyboard, next thing you know chapter 1 is under way.
